The other day I saw that I Quit Sugar had a Anti-Inflammatory Hot Chocolate and it looked amazing! I wondered whether adding some raw cacao powder to my Turmeric Golden Latte would taste any good. And I was not disappointed! This dairy free hot chocolate is one delicious drink and it is super healthy too.

Health Benefits

Turmeric has amazing anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and gastrointestinal health benefits, largely due to curcumin, which is an antioxidant. Cacao powder is a very high source of iron, is packed full of magnesium and is a natural mood elevator.

INGREDIENTS YOU NEED

  • Almond milk
  • Cacao powder
  • Ground turmeric
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Ground ginger
  • Ground black pepper
  • Stevia or your favourite sweetener

What other milks can I use instead of almond milk?

Coconut milk, oat milk, macadamia milk or any other dairy free milk will work well in this hot chocolate.

Can I use essential oils instead of the ground spices?

Yes, you can substitute 1 toothpick each of black pepper, ginger and cinnamon food grade essential oils.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 tsp cacao powder you can a bit more cacao powder if you prefer. I like to add 1 heaped tsp
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp stevia or your favourite sweetener, add more if needed

Instructions
 

  • Heat the almond in a small saucepan on medium heat for 2-3 minutes or until just warmed.
  • Add the remaining ingredients and whisk until frothy.

Notes

Thermomix Method
  • Add the almond milk to the Thermomix bowl and heat for 3 minutes/80 degrees/speed 2
  • Add the remaining ingredients and mix for 20 seconds/speed 8 until nice and frothy.
