These Baked Sweet Potato Wedges are super easy to make and they are either awesome on their own or to form the base of a meal. You can change up the accompanying ingredients quite easily to suit your dietary needs.

These oven roasted wedges have been on the menu at the Becomingness household for years and years.

Sometimes I make them on their own, to have as an appetizer with a yummy dipping sauce, like this garlic aioli or they are also great to form the base of my loaded sweet potato fries or healthy loaded sweet potato fries.

Easy to make – these fries are super easy to make. Just slice your potatoes, add your flavours and bake in the oven. Too easy!!

Made with fresh wholefood ingredients – which are easy to find at any supermarket, health store, food markets or on-line store.

INGREDIENTS

Baked Garlic Butter Sweet Potato Fries. These fries are so easy to make and they make a great side to so many meals or they are just as awesome on their own!

So you obviously need sweet potato to make this recipe. I recommend finding medium sized sweet potato as they are easier to slice into wedges.

Then you need to choose which flavour option you would prefer to make.

  • Salt, pepper and oil (either olive oil or coconut oil)
  • Salt, pepper, garlic powder and oil
  • Butter, garlic powder, salt and pepper

HOW TO MAKE

STEP 1 – First you slice the sweet potatoes into wedges and add to a bowl with your preferred flavour option.

STEP 2 – then place the fries on a baking tray or baking sheet.

STEP 3 – Cook for 30 – 35 minutes or until crispy. Remove from the oven and serve immediately.

FLAVOUR OPTIONS

Salt, pepper and oil – you can use either olive oil or coconut oil. I am a olive oil fan for cooking. All you need is to drizzle two tablespoons and add a pinch of salt and pepper.

Salt, pepper, garlic powder and oil – this is the same as the flavour option above but you add 1 tablespoon of garlic powder.

Garlic powder, butter, salt and pepper – For this combination, drizzle 2 tablespoons butter over the wedges with the garlic powder, salt and pepper.

I have also made my wedges with paprika, onion salt and various herbs. I will update this section when I am 100% happy with the new flavour options.

SECRETS TO PERFECT WEDGES

  • Mix the flavours really well with the wedges to ensure that they coated really well.
  • Make sure you don’t over crowd the wedges on the baking tray or baking sheet.
  • Make sure you slice the sweet potato into wedges that are all similar sizes.

What size sweet potato should I use?

I recommend you used medium sized sweet potatoes as they are much easier to slice into wedges.

When do I eat these?

Make sure you eat straight away to ensure you get to enjoy them crispy. They go super well with garlic aioli or they are pretty tasty on their own.

Ingredients
  

  • 14 oz Sweet potato
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper
  • 2 Tbl olive oil or melted butter or coconut oil
  • 1/2 Tbl garlic powder

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven. Preheat oven to 220 C | 430 F and lightly grease a baking tray or sheet.
  • Prepare sweet potatoes. Pell and slice sweet potatoes into wedges and place them in a bowl. Add oil (or melted butter), garlic powder, sea salt and pepper in a small bowl and mix well. Pour over the fries, mixing well to combine.
  • Cook wedges. Place the fries in a single layer on the baking tray (or sheet) and place in the oven and cook for 30-35 minutes or until crispy, turning over at the 15 minute mark. Remove from the oven and serve immediately.
